The Lawnmower Man: PDSMiOS Ep 74
Monday Feb 27, 2017
Monday Feb 27, 2017
This week on PDSMiOS, we entered a world of virtual reality and landscaping with the movie The Lawnmower Man from 1992! Mild mannered Jobe (Jeff Fahey) becomes the lab rat of Dr Angelo (Pierce Brosnan) who really wants Virtual Reality to work out. Like, real bad. I know what you're saying, we have the Gear VR and the Optimus Rip or whatever nowadays; but back in the day? VR was just a headache with graphics on par Minecraft, if Minecraft was made by a baby. But one of themes of this movie is technology and how it seems to leap and bound every year into new territory. It's only a matter of time before YOU, THE LISTENER, are left behind. Actually, I think the only lesson this movie has to teach us is that sometimes you just need to take your wife to the city ok?

The Guyver: PDSMiOS Ep 73
Monday Feb 20, 2017
Monday Feb 20, 2017
This week on PDSMiOS, we watched the listener recommended movie The Guyver from 1991! Based on the work by Yoshiki Takaya, this particular version is about an idiot who doesn't know Aikido very well but gets a suit of bio-armor which allows him to throw around some monsters. SUMMED UP! Featuring the acting style of the cast of Re-Animator, several special effects artists, and Mark Hamill with a mustache, this beat-em-up action creature feature is almost so bad it's good. ALMOST. And for those Good Times fans out there, don't worry: JJ does say "Dyno-mite" at some point.

Alphaville: PDSMiOS Ep 70
Monday Jan 30, 2017
Monday Jan 30, 2017
This week, we are joined by filmmaker Randal Kamradt to discuss the movie Alphaville from 1965. Imagine a future where emotions are outlawed and everything else is the same. No seriously, this movie is sci-fi because of a super computer and propaganda and that's about it. What one might assume is a darkly serious French noir actually seems rather silly when watching it. ART IS SERIOUS... sometimes. Please check out our guest's movies and support his current project at
Apologies for the sound quality. It was very late and I did not do a very thorough sound check.

Wristcutters A Love Story: PDSMiOS Ep 69
Monday Jan 23, 2017
Monday Jan 23, 2017
This week, Sarah picked one of her favorite movies for us to watch. It's a movie with a VERY off putting title, but please give it a chance. Wristcutters: A Love Story is about a lost young man, who after committing the most heinous of actions, finds himself living pretty much the same as before; just a little crappier. He goes on a road trip to find his lost love, bringing his only friend, the moody musician, with him and picking up someone unexpected along the way. It's a movie about getting on with your life after giving up on your life. And it is FUNNY. Check it out if you are looking for something surprisingly light hearted!

Turbo Kid: PDSMiOS Ep 68
Monday Jan 16, 2017
Monday Jan 16, 2017
This week, we barely talked about a movie we all enjoyed to one degree or another, that movie being Turbo Kid from 2015! Why you may ask, did we not talk about this gory post-apocalyptic 80's throwback awesomeness incarnate movie? Because we did not want to SPOIL IT for anyone! If you don't mind severed limbs and bloody explosions, we recommend you check out this movie right away (it is on Netflix Instant Watch in the US currently)!

Zardoz: PDSMiOS Ep 67
Monday Jan 09, 2017
Monday Jan 09, 2017
This week, we solve the mystery of Zardoz by watching Zardoz, starring Sean "Zardoz" Connery. Imagine if you will the far off year of 21XX (I can't remember), far after the fall of society we know live in a world of violence and savagery. Only the true Godhead, that who is Zardoz, can provide us any comfort in these brutal times. And my comfort I mean guns and ammo. Perhaps one day we will join the host in the vortex, where we can eat as much green bread as we want. Please, join me know in second level meditation.

Anastasia: PDSMiOS Ep 66
Monday Jan 02, 2017
Monday Jan 02, 2017
This week, we are once again joined by Joel's niece Mia to discuss her pick, this time talking up Anastasia.... kind of. Our discussion ended up being more about Don Bluth in general. This movie is special to many people, so if you love it, IGNORE JOEL. He doesn't know what's good (as he has shown many times). - Hey y'all, Joel here. I want to apologize for the sound quality on this episode. I was sick as a dog when we recorded and I wasn't paying attention to the software, so there are many mic bumps and such. So so sorry.

Monday Dec 12, 2016
This week, we got down to our skivvies and hopped into the boiling water of Hot Tub Time Machine from 2010! Our first REAL comedy, this episode has shown that sometimes the most sci-fi you can mine from movies like this are references to other movies. If anything, it reaffirmed our love for Crispin Glover.

Beetlejuice: PDSMiOS Ep 63
Monday Dec 05, 2016
Monday Dec 05, 2016
This week, we watched what we all consider to be a classic of the recently deceased variety, the movie Beetlejuice. In the year of our Lord 1988, that young upstart Tim Burton was still showing us what he was made of. His follow up to Pee-wee's Big Adventure was this movie, and although it took a slightly more adult tone than the former it should still be viewed through a lense of childhood joy. His plaything were these movies, these stories, and we were very lucky to experience them at the time, in their time. If you haven't seen Beetlejuice in a while, I suggest you give it a watch. Remember the things that made you laugh then, and enjoy the experience again now. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE STOP COMPARING IT TO THE CARTOON

The Fifth Element: PDSMiOS Ep 62
Monday Nov 28, 2016
Monday Nov 28, 2016
This week, we are joined once again by the host of the Clash of the Type-Ins podcast(http://rcveeder.net/clash/) to discuss the formative 90's sci-fi The Fifth Element. So, you may notice this episode is extra long, and the fact is, we could have talked about this movie and all it nuances (if that is a word that can be used in reference to this movie) for a few more hours. The over the top acting, the music, the accents!?!?! There is so much to pick apart and roll around in your brain.
If you love this movie, or hate this movie, write in to pleasedontpodcast@gmail.com and we'll read your story on the air! When did you first see the movie and how did it effect you at the time?

A Man Called Rage: PDSMiOS Ep 61
Monday Nov 21, 2016
Monday Nov 21, 2016
This week, we took a ride on the randomizer into truly unknown territory, and ended up with the movie A Man Called Rage aka Rage from 1984. We have taken our first step into the phenomenon that was knock off Italian movies, and after this one I can say that we cannot wait for more. The cheesy music, the bad dubbing, the stunts that looked PAINfully realistic, all this added up to a bats*** good time! If you are interested in checking out the movie for yourself, it is up for free on youtube!

Ladyhawke: PDSMiOS Ep 60
Monday Nov 14, 2016
Monday Nov 14, 2016
This week, we enjoyed ourselves by watching the listener suggested movie Ladyhawke! A true tale of tragic love, one can almost get lost in the fantasy world of the movie, and then that funky beat drops. Alan Parsons Project guitar and electronica. I cannot get that music out of my head! After watching this movie, you will believe a wolf can love a hawk. When was the first time you saw this movie and how do you feel about it now? Please send in an email and we will read it on the air!

Gattaca: PDSMiOS Ep 59
Monday Nov 07, 2016
Monday Nov 07, 2016
This week, we get our genes rated for compatibility with the movie Gattaca. There was a lot of Ethan Hawke starring vehicles back in the day, and this was one of the best. This cast is chock full of famous people though, in case you don't like HIS face. Uma Thurman, Xander Berkeley, Ernest Borgnine, Tony Shalhoub, Alan Arkin, and of course, Jude Law. If you are looking for a heavily styled movie with a social commentary that still speaks well today, look no further.

Class of 1999 II - The Substitute: PDSMiOS Ep 58
Monday Oct 24, 2016
Monday Oct 24, 2016
This week, we step into unknown and disregarded sequel territory with the criminally under seen Class of 1999 II: The Substitute. Cody from Step by Step kick ass and takes names in the name of education, and then takes a break to peep in your window. Explosions and punches and more explosions, this movie was a lot of STUPID FUN.

The Greasy Strangler: PDSMiOS Ep 57
Monday Oct 17, 2016
Monday Oct 17, 2016
This week, we take care of the last of our Kickstarter pledge picks (thanks again everyone!)by watching the revolting movie, The Greasy Strangler. This is a horror movie written by 12 year olds. I mean, not really, I just mean based on the sense of humor the film displays. 2 men, 1 woman, tons of grease, a dash of murder and disco dancing, you get something barely tolerable and extremely funny. This episode is NSFW. Make sure you get your parent's permission before you listen.
